CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PROVINCIAL CHAMPION LCI RAMS MIXED TEAM!
The team was on the verge of elimination on Saturday morning. They played hard to win an early morning game against Sexsmith. This win forced a tie breaking match against this same team from Sexsmith. They one this tie breaking match by a single rock that was ¼ inch closer than their opponent's stone. They went on to destroy a team from Sylvan Lake (this team had been undefeated in round robin play and was ranked number one in Pool A). LCI advanced to the finals against Anne Anderson High School from Edmonton. This team had defeated LCI in the round robin game, 8-5. LCI came out hot stealing a single point in the first three ends. The team from Edmonton was chasing LCI throughout the match and LCI ended up winning the game 6-4. It was an incredibly long day for the LCI curlers who played four games in one day. They were essentially on the ice from 8am - 10:00pm. This is the third time LCI has won Provincials in the Mixed division championship.
The team is (from left to right): Kamille de Jong (lead), Art Andizo (second), Liv Swift (third), Rhett Whittmire (skip), Kale Higginson (alternate), and Cory Hoffner (coach).
